orthodics casting procedure

Post a new topicby essene81 on Sun Oct 07, 2007 8:03 am

My podiatrist recently took a cast of my foot for custom made orthodics. Before she took the cast I removed an ankle brace I had been wearing the entire day. I know that the ankle brace leaves an impression on my foot so I was wondering if this will effect the cast that was taken and if I should call my doctor to get a new cast taken. Is the cast that precise?

I would call the podiatrist and ask if the indentation of the brace showed up on the mold, and if it is going to be a problem

The brace's indentations should not pose an issue to the cast, but you should call your doctor any time you have a question like this as most people on a forum are not experts. And, if you're worried your doctor may tell you it does cause a problem just to get you in to re-cast and re-charge you, call a few more podiatrists to get their thoughts.
