Fitting of a boot for a broken toe

Post a new topicby shiesand on Sat Oct 20, 2007 5:51 am

I have a broken, large toe which is being treated with a velcro-wrap boot. I have never had one before, so I don't know how it should fit. It seems too big for me. The foot of boot extends at least an inch past my big toe. The velcro straps have to be tucked in because of excess after strapping them on. I feel like it over exaggerates my walk and is feeling heavy after a short time. I saw someone else with a boot and their toe was within 1/4-1/2 " of edge of boot and she looked like walking was easier for her. The ball of my wrapped foot was also getting a bit numb and tingly. I wear a size 71/2-8 shoe and she fit me for a "medium" boot, if that means anything to anyone. Any thoughts out there?
