recurrence of neuroma

Post a new topicby prinewalt on Thu May 29, 2008 6:18 pm

I've had 2 prior surgeries on the same foot with recurrance of symptoms. Last surgery was 5 years ago and now having that tell-tale "burning toes" symptoms again. Prior to surgeries, had the injections with no relief. Has any one else had to have the surgeries re-done? Surgeon told me recurrence is rare but does happen.

I've only had the one surgery. However, I have heard of people getting stump neuromas and having to have multiple surgeries. I don't think it's the norm. I hope that you find relief from your pain! MN isn't fun that's for sure! Best of luck to you!

I too, have had two prior surgeries, both throught the top of my foot. I have also been through cortisone shots, the alcohol shots, physical therapy. Nothing has seemed to work and now it is worse than ever. They now want to do a 3rd surgery through the bottom of my foot.

First surgery was through the top, second was through the bottom of foot. Though recovery takes longer this way, I thought it had fixed the problem. Wondering if what I'm having now is more scar tissue (I was told this forms more frequently with this surgery and if you don't stay off the foot at least for 4 weeks), than stump neuromas.

Yes, I have had the surgery for recurrence of neuroma twice. Each time was about 2 1/2 yrs. apart. First time the surgery was done on the top and second was done on the plantar. I just hit my 2 1/2 yr mark and the feeling is back again. I love to walk and had to stop my routine because of the pain in foot. With the last surgery I was unable to walk for 6 weeks. Still like to know what other options are out there.
