Mr Spock toesHello, I am new to this, and my Dr still hasn't figured out exactly whats wrong with my left foot. For a long time, here and there, my foot would feel like it had a lump in the bottom of it at the ball of the foot. Not all the time, just sometimes. Like the sock was bunched up but it wouldn't be. Then I started getting night cramps in my foot. 4 weeks ago I put on sandals and looked at my foot and couldn't believe it. My 2nd & 3rd toes were doing the Mr Spock Live Long and Prosper sign. Without even trying.
I called my doctor, got an appointment, went in, x-rays were done, no fractures. Was advised to get arch supports and not wear heels. Well I have been wearing flats for a long time, only wear heels on special occassions which only last a couple hours, and mostly I sit. So there more like Sittin shoes. Then a few days later I get a call that the Radiologist really got time to "read" my x-ray and suggests an MRI and that they would call me back when it got scheduled. Apparently my insurance co. won't go for it as that was 2 weeks ago, and I haven't been called. Anyway, I haven't been told exactly what was wrong, but have trying to search out my symptoms. First I thought it might be Plantar Facitis, but that doesn't explain this little soft lump that pushes up between my toes when I stand up and put weight on my foot and the toes really separate, and then it doesn't explain that even when rested my toes are still slightly separated in that "V" Mr Spock did. So has anybody out there had the soft lump between the toes push up and separate their toes????? I'd really like to know. Thank you for "listening".
Re: Mr Spock toesHi Spock Toes
I have had the same experience as you with the v sign on my left foot the second toe has pulled away from the others and is now starting to sit on my big toe, causing alot of pain and discomfort!. My condition started about a year ago pain in the ball of my foot second toe very stiff nad painful could not even put a bed sheet over it without being in extreme pain had to have foot hanging out can only wear open toe flip flops at the moment. Al winter could only wear frumpy flat shoes only shoes i could wear. My foot has widened so much i cannot get a shoe on my foot. Sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but get some medical treatment as soon as possible do not delay. Because of the delay with myself (NHS),I have seen an orthepedic surgeon, had X-Ray's on 3.07.08, and have been told that every toe side of the foot, ball of the foot needs surgery to correct the foot. If i do not have the surgery my foot will deform further and widen so will have difficulty finding shoes to fit. I asked the surgeon to check my Right foot, as i have the same symptoms starting he advised me i have the condition Morton's Neuroma now in my Right foot, and will have to have the same surgery within 6 months of the Left foot. I had a call from the NHS Health trust one bit of good news, is that i can have the surgery at a private Hospital ,and the NHS will fund it. I am also seeing an Endocronologist on Wednesday, have symptoms of Hypothyroidism. Have had swelling Oedema in my body for over a year, and othe symptoms. Orthopedic surgeon said this could be a contribution to the condition i have now, and that i may have an Auto - Immune disease, and he will not operate untill i have been diagnosed. I hope you get diagnosed A.S.A.P, and get the correct treatment you are going to need. Good Luck Jacqui00
