uncommon foot pain

Post a new topicby livingwith on Wed Aug 06, 2008 4:27 pm

A few months ago I saw a pod. about these pains in both my feet. He immediately recognised and diagnosed them as Mortons Neuroma He recommended custom made orthotics which I got and now wear constantly. Unfortunately they have not helped much, so I have been seriously concidering a more agressive approach i.e. surgery.
I am one who finds comfort in numbers, so can anyone tell me the success/failure rate of MN’s removal surgery. Also let me know how well, if it has indeed worked for you....Read the full article

Hi

Does your orthotic include a posting to separate the metetarsal heads? This is a pointed egg shape - the point sits between the met heads and points (!) towards the toes so that the body of the egg should cause the met bones to splay slightly. I have done this for myself with semi compressed felt and find it works as long as I wear wide shoes, never high heels, and make sure my fore foot isn't held too tightly. My walking boots were causing problems with the tight lacing but I overcame that with spending time to get the fore foot lacing just right and tying knots in the laces at that place in the boot, so now the boots are perfect. From what I've heard surgery is the last option. Good luck
