What it is???

Greetings,
I have a swelling at base of my heel and looking at the pictures on this site, the swelling looks like,
Haglund's Deformity.
When I go to the Dr. he says it's achilles tendonitis.
Just what is the difference or are they the same?

I'm in process of getting into a specialist office for diagnosis/treatment.
I've been a runner all my life and was activated just after 9-11, Jan 02. While running in July, which I did on a daily basis, I felt something "snap" and I went down and couldn't get up or walk for at least half an hour. After struggling to get back to the barracks I did the usual: I iced it, elevated it and stayed off it over the weekend and went to see the medics on Monday. They sent me to an AF physical Dr. and he said I had achilles tendonitis and put me on physical therapy for 2x week for 8 weeks and afterwards all was well and I slid back into my running routine which I did for several more years. Well, now it's '07 and as I was in a slow jaunt to the office one day, the pain started back and I had a swelling in lower part of my leg which looked like hagland's deformity. I iced/heated it and wrapped it and finally went to Dr. and it put me back on therapy which I stopped after three weeks because I wasn't getting any better or worse so to keep the ins. costs down, I started doing the exercises at home. Well, it's the same ol same ol and no results after 4 months and that's why I'm trying to get into a specialist and that's the reason for the question above.
Anyone got any clues?
thanks
