fistula

Post a new topicby pranitha on Sun Oct 21, 2007 6:06 am

2 months back my husband was suffering with the pain in the anus.he met the doctor and was given atreatment for Heamorroids. After 2 weeks the pain was severe so he met some other surgeon She said that is He is suffering from Fistula. Some pus was coming from his anus and there was severe pain. The doctor prescribed some antiboitics Which made him little bit cured. But now(after a month of stopping the antiboitics)he is once again suffering from severe pain and also some pus is coming out from is anus.Presently we are out of our country. We will be back to our country after 2 months. Now he is taking the same antiboitics which was given by the earlier Doctor.
Can anybody suggest me to get relief from the pain for this 2 months. Is there any danger of not consulting a doctor for this 2 months? Is there any possibility of infecting other areas of the body?

I don't know if you know how painful it can be. Is there a doctor there who can put in a seton to drain the infection? When I suffered from this I was told that oral antibiotics would not help only IV and then it returned after about a week of being off of them. The seton will really help him with the pain and will drain the abcess. He will feel 100% better within a week. It can be left in permantly. I was on vicatin and percoset and they hardly helped with the pain. As for leaving him with the infection I guess I wouldn't. I left mine for three months before I went in and when I finally went I was so sick from the infection all I could do was cry and lay there. I am not a drama queen so it was that bad. I hope you can find someone to help him where you are. A seton is a pretty easy for a doctor to put in from what I understand and hopefully when you get back to the states you will be able to find a good colorectal surgeon. Good Luck and be patient with him.
