Diabetes & "Surprise" pregnancy? RISKS?

Post a new topicby monkmonk521 on Sun Oct 07, 2007 2:54 pm

My wife just found out she was pregnant a week ago. She is a Diabetic Type ~1 so from her prior knowledge thinks that the pregnancy should be ended. We have an appointment with our Dr. on Tuesday, but have focused on taking a path towards "extinguishing" the pregnancy. Will diabetes keep her from taking another route? I mean, what if things are not so bad...even though this comes as a surprise? Could the Dr. look at her past lab tests and actually think its okay? Or does this mean "NO" for sure..We dont want to risk anything if its not worth it to begin with.

If she keeps her glucose levels in the normal range the chances of a problem free pregnancy are about the same as someone that does not have diabetes, monitoring and control are the keys, good luck
