Living with charcot for over five years now…I had an acute charcot in January of 2002. After healing took place, I have gone on with MOST of my life. I did have to retire early from a teaching career I loved, and that was a “bitter pill to swallow,” but, luckily, I am still able to drive, walk through stores and for small distances, and wear normal shoes (with orthotics which are never quite comfortable).
