Broken Ankle--What can I expect?

Hi there! I broke my ankle a couple of weeks ago. This is my first break and first cast and am continually worried that something is wrong. My foot and my leg swell everyday. The difference between me being swollen and not is between the cast being so tight it hurts to me feeling like my foot and leg are just swimming in the cast. I have pain occasionally at the site of the break but also in my calf and on the top of my foot. What is normal and when should I be contact my doctor? Thank you!!!
